IE9 driving me crazy

I’ve been running IE9 now for about two months and only until recently I was just putting up with sites constantly hanging, freezing, and all sorts of crazy stuff. Each time it happens, IE asks if I want to recover page. No! I don’t want to recover the page AGAIN!!! I want it fixed!

So, after countless hours of searching. I believe I found the answer!

Go to Internet Options – Advanced (tab) – and under Accelerated graphics, check the box that says “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering“.

After making that change… Voila! IE9 has been pretty stable for 1 week now.

I hope you guys experience the same kind of results.

Finally, somebody else thinks 4G is just about marketing

Every time a friend comes up to me and says “ooooh I’m going to pickup that new 4G phone” I just roll my eyes…. or a least try to roll my eyes, take a deep breath and tell them calmly that it’s just a marketing ploy to sell you a new phone.

4G simply means 4th Generation. At this point that’s all it means. There is no “official” universal standard for 4G. It’s even funny when a carrier advertises 4G yet it’s actually slower than their 3G service.

Next time you’re in store checking out that new 4G phone? Put it down, turn around and walk away with that hard-earned money still in your wallet or purse.

Sony, Panasonic and Sharp among affected in Japan’s earthquake

As our prayers go out to all that are affected by the 8.9 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, it appears that Sony, Panasonic and Sharp are among some major technology manufacturers that will experience some production problems.

Windows 7 SP1 causes headaches for admins

Many admins got up this morning thinking “….hmmmm almost the weekend and no major issues. I think I got time to actually make some breakfast.” That is until they checked all 100 voicemails on their phone saying computers are down.

Luckily we’ve got techie people who don’t sleep and have already come up with solutions. If you’re one of those lucky tech guys who just got out of bed and are now having to deal with this mess, here’s a link provides a quick solution to get you back on track towards a great weekend!

I had to find the correct pending.xml file because the one contained in the default path when initially opening the command prompt was X:\windows\system32 By opening notepad to find the file, I discovered that drive “X” was actually labeled as (Boot) and I needed to look in the (OS) drive now labeled as drive “D”. Once I made my way to the windows\winsxs folder in the correct drive, then I was able to find the correct pending.xml file to edit.
